A Pardoner or Quaestor was a medieval official with three main activities: the selling of indulgences (literally, pardons for sins committed), the selling of relics (apparently sacred objects) and preaching. Along with the Wife of Bath, the Pardoner is the other interesting Pilgrim in the company.
The translated prologue
The Pardoner
along with came a gental pardoner
he traveled derictly from Rome
as he went along he sang "come hither love to me"
the summoner joined in the singing
but he was not as good as a singer as the pardoner
the pardoner had blonde hair
but it was pretty long but not flax
he had wispy hair that hanged down in locks
his hair was longer than his shoulders
but it was thin and stringy and droped one by one
he didnt wear a hat even know he had one
he add in his bag which was with him all the time
he was dressed pretty good
even though it looked good it was bald on top
he kept his bag in his lap
he had a bunch of pardons he got from Rome
his voice sounded like a goat
he had no beard and never wanted one
his face was like a horse
everywere from berwick to ware
you wouldnt be able to find a better pardoner
In his bag he had a pillowcase that he said was the veil of mary
also a piece of sail that saint peter had when going to sea
untill jesus changed his way
he had a cross set of stone
and a bottle with pig bones int it
he used the relics to scam simple poor people out of two months worth of pay
hed make them set while he would preach or sing to them
and just before finishing he would tell them there was a charge for his serveces
